G6 Basic Starter Kit

This review is on the Halo G6 Basic Starter Kit

found at Halos Website
. I purchased it for $54.99.  I have seen a lot of reviews in this product, mainly the Elements version, which is a drip puff type as opposed to the Cartomizer version which this is.  As usual, I wanted to see what all the fuss is about, so I took the plunge and bought one.  I also have to note they did give me a small sample kit of their flavors but this will not affect my review as I always want to give the my best and honest opinion to help readers make the best choose they can.

Here are the contents of kit:

  • Batteries: 2x Included (2 x Auto or 2 x Manual or 1x Auto & 1x Manual)
  • Cartridges: 7x Included (5 x with flavor and 2 blank or 7 x blank)
  • USB Charger: Included
  • A/C Wall Adaptor: Included
  • Storage Tin: Included
  • Cartomizer Carrying Case: Included

Presentation

The tin case the kit comes in is very nice.  Different in a good way.  Very artistic, simple and practical as you can use it later in whatever fashion you want.  Also, I like the clean style of the website.  Very simple and yet they put the artistic flare in just enough to make it chic. they even give you a hard plastic travel case for the cartomizers. It’s the attention to details that I enjoy the most. Halo is a class act for sure.

Delivery

For Shipping, they only offer USPS Priority or First-Class Mail.  As always, I wish they offered FedEx or UPS. Not that I don’t like the USPS, but if I choose FedEx because they have the quality delivery I want and I’m willing to pay the differences, I would like that option.

Quality

I’m impressed with the overall quality of Halo’s products and website. The production value of the kit itself is very impressive. At first the tin starter kit container didn’t seem so impressive. But the container isn’t flimsy nor is it unfinished. The inside is smooth, the edges are rounded to avoid nagging and the top and bottom are joined well. I’ve been able to use it as a 10ml bottle e-liquid travel container. The batteries are well made as well, thou I’m sure all the batteries from these kits are made in china, it still means a lot to me when a company takes its time to chop around and find the best quality batteries they can. Choosing the recessed button on the manual batteries decrease the odds of it miss-firing in your pocket. The smooth, almost rubber like exterior makes them easier to hold and they don’t leave smudgy fingerprints like the metallic coated ones sometimes do. But, most of all, the high level quality of their e-liquids is what really takes them into their own top stratosphere. It’s hard to explain, but their e-liquids shift from “wow, haven’t I tasted this is a really nice margarita” to the :oh my, dark, husky flavor with a hint of sweet?” variety from one flavor to another. This is a risky move, since a lot of their flavors don’t coincide with anything you’ve ever tasted before. But, I feel they wanted to do this because they believe in what they are doing and are willing to go all the way with it, not just to make a buck.

Battery

I like that the batteries come in different types and colors.  You can choose both as manual or automatic or one of each.  You can choose between 65mm and 78mm (go with 78mm, they last longer). There are lots of colors like others offer so I got my midnight blue batteries.  As to act, they work great.  Great resistance on the draw lasts about 2-3 hours depending on use.  They recharge in about an hour and a half to 2 hours, pretty standard.  They are also KR808D-1 sized batteries so they fit other cartomizers with that size easily (V2Cigs and Smokeless Image all have the same size)

Flavor

There flavors are amazing.  They have their own blend that has a rustic, primal feel to them with a modern vibe in its fanciful play on flavors.  As if they were finely aged wine redesigned my modern chemist.  It’s hard to describe as I’m sure they felt when they named them.  Midnight Apple (My favorite! Not available in Cartomizers thou only in e-liquid), Tribeca (What does that even suggest as a taste?  No idea, but it tastes amazing), Malibu Menthol (Like a coconut daiquiri… with menthol… minus the rum) and Menthol Ice (Like a huge menthol ice storm, different but good).  The Prime 15 and Torque 56 I haven’t tried because I got so hooked on Midnight Apple (Umm, a deep woodsy flavor with that small sweet apple hint to round it out) but I’ll post an update once I do.

Throat Hit

The throat hit is just amazing; you really get that back of the throat hit which reminds me of smoking a cigarette.  It’s a warm mouth full and the flavor begins on the pull, not just the exhale, which is really nice.  It’s really like V2Cigs throat hit. They rank up there with V2cigs in throat hit in a kit as far as I’m concerned.

Vapor

The vapor is really nice as well.  I mentioned this in the review of V2Cigs and Smokeless Image that I think it’s the battery.  I have to take that back.  I’m sure it’s not the battery.  I purchased some cartomizers from another company and they did not have the throat hit or the vapor of Halo, V2Cigs or Smokeless Image.  So, the vapor is due to Halo’s engineers, great work.

I have to say the e-liquid is the real selling point.  The fact the case is very well made, the batteries are highly customizable are all great, but what pulls you in is the e-liquid.  Awesome job Halo.

Hello, I studied your site throughly after buying the Finiti Starter Kot and having the battery crap out on me after my 1st pack of refills. I went with the G6, and got a couple Eliquids with it. Now my problem is how to measure 1ml? I don’t want to overfill it and it has no way of measurement that I can tell. What do you do?

Breeze, that is a common question and a good one. There are two methods out there. One is to “Tilt” the cartomizer with the threads down and drip the Eliquid into the top so it does not go down the center and keep “Rotating” the cartomizer about 10 degrees and drip some more.

The second method is called the “Condom” method (Really, that’s the common name… seriously) is the method I use. The two plastic end-caps that come on an unopened cartomizer are nick-named “Condoms”. If you remove them both, take the longer of the two and fill it with Eliquid, you can dunk the thread end, or the one that connect to the battery, into the liquid until the liquid reaches the top of the cartomizer. Let it sit for about 5 minutes so it soaks into the Filament. Keep pressing down until you see only the Filament. Repeat until the Eliquid does not absorb anymore. Remove the “Condom” and place a paper towel over the top of the cartomizer and blow into the threads end. This will remove any excess Eliquid from the middle of the cartomizer. Wipe the cartomizer to remove any excess juice and your done.

There you have it, the method I use to fill the cartomizers. Hope this helps and if you have any more questions, don’t hesitate to ask!

I am hooked on HALO!!! I’ve tried White Cloud, Njoy, Smoketip, Greensmoke and Halo is by far is the best e-cig for me! I have also recently purchased their new Triton E-cig. All I can say is OMG WOW!!! The throat hit and flavor is AMAZING! I have recommended this brand to everyone I know. Another part about Halo that you did not mention is that they are an ALL-AMERICAN MADE COMPANY! that’s right, you do not have to guess as to the quality of their eliquids or what is actually in them. They use all FDA approved ingredients and that alone would keep me hooked on Halo.

    • ecigcritic says:

Hello Carmen. I’m so glad hear you found an e-cig to get behind. That really helps someone stay off of regular cigarettes. And you are correct, I did not mention that Halo is made in the USA, as well as their great e-liquid. I’ll be sure to correct that in my next revision of the review.

Thank you very much for your comments! And Keep Vaping!

EricMarch 6, 2013 I am a hardcore citraegte addict. I have started using the South Beach Smoke citraegtes very shortly. I am enjoying the strong flavors of coffee and vanilla, both. One thing that has surprised me is that my smoking craving is satisfied very soon on a comparison to the conventional citraegtes. On the one hand, I had to smoke 8 to 10 citraegtes in order to control my smoking craving in conventional citraegtes. On the other hand, a few puffs of the South Beach Smoke electronic citraegtes satisfy me fully. I have certainly observed a change in my stamina also.
