According to the SBWIRE article, the FDA has made some accusations about the safety of Electronic Cigarettes last year but still have not released their findings.

The FDA is threatening the future of electronic cigarette companies with their research results which they are seemingly unwilling to release publicly. The July study is believed to contain data which states that only 2% of smokers die from the hundreds of carcinogens found in tobacco cigarettes. According to the study, the other 98% of deaths from cancer from smoking comes from a direct inhalation of fresh products of combustion within the smoker’s lungs. The conclusion is that the inhalation of electronic cigarettes could be as harmful as the effects of traditional cigarettes.

This has the electronic companies looking for proof.  I wonder at the politics the FDA is playing at.  Research into the cause if cancer has gone on for years, way before e-cigs came about.  And now, after the doctors and scientist have found and listed known carcinogens in the smoke from cigarettes, in one study the FDA have found that “no” it’s not that at all and all the effort the cancer research team has put into finding a cure is for nothing.    Amazing.

If the FDA is trying to protect millions of dollars in government spending  in Nicotine Cessation Products, then this will be a sad day for Americans.  If the FDA is actually protecting the cigarette industry, this will be a sad day for Americans.  If they are just trying to keep the ecigs out of the hands of kids and non-smokers by “liberally” altering some key points… I applaud their concerns, but can’t condone those actions.  Help keep ecigs out of youth and non-smokers hands, don’t give condoning reports and fail to provide proof.  Let the doctors of the world find out if smokers health will be safer in the hands of ecigs as opposed to regular cigarettes.
